2024 Record: 10–20 overall, 4–12 Horizon League
Postseason: Did not qualify
Head Coach: Danny Doherty (4th season)
Roster Depth & Returning Core
RMU returns a balanced, experienced lineup spanning multiple classes and backgrounds. At the helm is senior setter Kaitlyn Brown, anchoring the offense with poise and leadership. Junior Jocelyn Jourdan, a 6’2″ outside hitter, offers high-end scoring potential. The front row features a mix of promising middle blockers — freshman Addyson Butts, junior Azra Eric, and graduate transfer Madison Floyd — giving RMU multiple looks at the net. Defensive stability comes from juniors like libero Lanie Goff, setter Isabelle Jackson, and senior Jasmine Purakal.
Early Season & Non-Conference Matchups
RMU opens its campaign at Rocket Invitational in Toledo, OH — matchups against St. Francis, Albany, and Toledo will test them early. The following week, the Colonials host the Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Volleyball Classic, featuring FDU, Loyola Maryland, and Duquesne.
The Colonials go back on the road for the Hokie Invitational at Virginia Tech and face strong opponents in Marshall, Virginia Tech and Maryland Eastern Shore.
These marquee events will be crucial for momentum ahead of NEC play, offering early glimpses at RMU’s ceiling.
Expectations Under Coach Doherty
Under veteran head coach Danny Doherty, RMU enters the season looking to build from experience and volume. The roster’s diversity in experience — from senior leadership to freshmen pace-setters — sets up well for a competitive NEC run. The question mark: can RMU turn its balanced roster into consistent execution? If it clicks, they’re set to be a disruptive force in the Horizon League and the region.
